In reader order, The Fatherless begins with a Republic that manufactures guilt to justify ownership. Neurion carries the question into a future where creating intelligence becomes a new excuse to possess it. Age of Embers then moves back into guarded survival, showing that the tension between possession and stewardship is far older than either world. The Age of Forms looks beyond them, to material abundance and useful measurements that begin standing in for the people they only partially describe.

Ryan Jennings
Ryan Jennings is a Canadian writer and software engineer whose work explores power, belief, technology, identity, and the systems people create to make sense of the worlds they inherit.
His fiction draws from history, religion, philosophy, politics, and technological change, with a particular interest in the tension between individuals and institutions—and in what happens when accepted ideas of morality, authority, ownership, and social order begin to fracture.
Outside of writing, Jennings has spent more than fifteen years building and securing complex software systems. That background informs his interest in how systems acquire authority, how they fail, and how people adapt to them.
He is also a musician and songwriter and lives in British Columbia, Canada.
The Fatherless is the first novel in the Entanglement of Ages series.
